Cm Colly, (stage name) is an underground rapper, artist and lyricist hailing from Nairobi,Kenya. Although not known to many he comes from the border.
He provides a rich insight to the mordern day hiphop through his distinct sound. Relatively a charm, kind and loving person, He shares with us the struggles, upbringing and the challenges in the underground music scene.
Whats your name?
CM COLLY a.k.a Locozzo. Currently in my mid twenties.
Where are you from CM-COLLY?
I trace my roots in Busia (Border). Currently, i’m deeply devoted to my various projects in the big city (Nairobi).
When did you start doing music?
I started writing music in 2012 but recorded my first song in 2016. I realised it’s the best way I can connect, relate and share with the society. Its more of the art form rather than in it for the cash. I believe in value before cash. Give people source of inspiration and you will eventually get rewarded for it.
Who is your role model in the music industry?
JuaCali. Because of his consistency and ability to make music that talks much about the streets and the hood. Moreover, in the international music scene I find inspiration from J Hus, from Gambia but he’s based in the UK. One day I hope to do a collab with my idols. Mark the calendars, some day it might happen.
What are some of your best life experience?
Being in the studio everyday is just a blessing to me. I don’t think I’ve had a moment in my career that deserves to be called the best yet. The worst part of being an artist is that your creativity is all out there running out wild for the audience. Also receiving criticisms can be good and bad at the same time. It can help you mend your craft but at the same time if you are not able to handle different opinions you can easily give up on life.

What are some of your hobbies?
Rapping. Eating that’s my second passion. I’m also a fan of bird watching and usually enjoy a lot of travelling when visiting such places. Above all, God over everything. Prayers tops it all.
What can you tell your fellow youth out there so as to inspire them?
Be ready to work with anyone because anyone could be a plus in your success path.
