VALENTINES DAY:10 LESSONS I’VE LEARNT SO FAR!

Valentines day is just around the corner. I can’t help but laugh at the funny memes and messages ushering this season of love.

Ladies throwing random hints of gifts and places they’d want to visit while men are dreading and wishing they’d rather stay at home with Netflix and chill while wearing their Chelsea jerseys.

valentines day
What love feels like.

The pressure is on. Now all your once lame jokes are rib cracking. The girls can’t stop lolling. It’s a trap! All for this thing called love.

This thing called love. It’s a four letter word that holds the totality of life. Its what keeps a struck teenager awake at 3:00a.m waiting for another to whisper sweet nothings in her ears.

It is what parents find in the face of their children. Its what a mother comes home to after a hard 9 to 5 days work.

WHAT VALENTINES DAY REALLY MEANS!

Love is going to have a glass of chardonnay with your colleagues after a hard day at work, playing cards and laughing out loud at silly jokes.

It is old couples taking a lone walk in the evening, reminiscing the good old days with the small wins, the big wins an everything in between.

It is a reader and her books. A scholar and the straight A’s reflecting on his transcript. Proof of years worth of sweat and tears.

It is the connection between a painter and her canvas, a chauffeur and her coat.A singer and the stage. It is what sets our souls on fire.

The idea of love being complicated is outright wrong. I think love is simple. It’s selflessness and patience, humility and respect. It’s forgiveness again and again. It is choosing peace over ego.

Understanding that we’re all a little different and a little imperfect but still choosing to grow and glow together. Understanding that sometimes grass isn’t really greener on the other side but rather grass is greener when we water the ground.

This thing called love is looking beyond romanticism.Recognizing people more on what they do than what they do not. Choosing to let grow than to let go. Allowing people to become the best version of themselves and not driving our agendas on what we want them to become.

And most of all, understanding that love can not be received and given if It has not been experienced. Journey to love authentically starts with you — it’s the journey of a lifetime. And trust me when I say, it’s quite possibly the best journey you’ll ever take.

Make sure you don’t miss it because you’re counting on someone else writing a love story with you.Love is an experience that can only healthily works from the inside out.

Love is a beautiful thing. But what greater joy it is to love and be loved. We were made solely for this reason. To love and be loved. Valentines day is about caring and sharing. In the simple, little and overly large things of life.

CONCLUSION

So even as we await the day of love, let it be ingrained in us that we do not only need a day to remind us of what love is. That we can instead choose to live and learn and laugh with the heart of love.

Love is what makes the world go round.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I believe in living a poetic life, an art full life. Everything we do from the way we talk, read, write,to the way we welcome our friends is part of a large canvas we are creating.
